Do Motivation, Mindset, Mindfulness, Measuring, matter on the pathway to losing weight?

How did you become the size you are Part 2

When looking to lose weight, and developing new eating habits:-

> Motivation Matters
> Mindset Matters
> Mindfulness Matters
> Measuring Matters
What is it that:-
> Sabotages Motivation?
> Resets Mindset?
> Tunes out Mindfulness?
> Stops us Measuring
Which of these four is  the Key to weight loss?
Does that vary person to person?
Fully establishing  a weight loss Mindset is for me essential to losing weight.
Therefore Motivation must be there to learn the new Mindset.
The brain learns by repetition, see this article on Change   and excerpt below (Deliberate Repetition and Practice)
Is it motivation that gets compromised?
> By the environment (ie living in Hotels,,, “it’s just too hard”) or
> Social pressure, “ come on, one muffin won’t make you fat”, or “are you not drinking? What? Do you not want to join us” , “Goody two shoes eh? You better than us?” Etc etc etc.
Is the Mindfulness just dropped as a consequence of losing the Motivation and Mindset? Or what else does that?
What are the reasons we wont, don’t or stop measuring?
Lack of deliberate repetition and practice

You can’t just learn a new language or musical instrument and never think about it again; you’ll forget what you learned. New connections and pathways are fragile, says Swart, and only through repetition and practice can those connections be established enough to become habitual or default behaviors.

Swart writes in Neuroscience: “Depending on the complexity of the activity, [experiments have required] four and a half months, 144 days or even three months for a new brain map, equal in complexity to an old one, to be created in the motor cortex.”

During this time, motivation, willpower, and self-control are necessary to achieve your goal.

The right Environment

Without the right environment to enable change, your brain won’t be able to focus on what’s needed to create new neurons. Instead, your brain will be stuck in survival mode, meaning it will choose to travel along pathways it’s already familiar with to mitigate risk.

Swart writes. “And of course, the most important part of our environment is other people and our relationship with them.” For example in Starbucks, restaurants,  in a club or pub, with our family, etc

To have the energy to keep your brain flexible and “plastic,” Ancona and Swart say your physical health needs to be in good shape, especially since your brain sucks up such a massive amount of your body’s nutrients. The hydration, nutrients, and rest you need are even more important as your brain learns, unlearns, and relearns behavioral patterns.

“Your brain will send its resources through the blood supply to areas that it can tell that you’re focusing attention and concentration on,” Swart says, “or areas that you have a desire to put more energy into.”
